The Love Legacy - Generation 2 Chapter 9

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Love Legacy!

Last chapter ended with a tragic event...our heir Sebastian's sudden death left everyone distraught and unwilling to believe that such horror had happened to their lives...

Shameka: it can't be...oh it just can't be...my poor love...Sebastian...why did this happen to you? Life is not fair...how will I go on and bring up four kids without you?

Juliet: Shameka...darling...please come back inside, you'll freeze out here in your sleepwear...

Shameka: no...I must stay here...with him...I can't go on, I'll just freeze to death here, I want to be where my Sebastian is...

Juliet: nonsense, I'm sure he wouldn't want this. You lost your husband but I lost my son. And my husband before him. I understand how you feel, but you can't give up. I keep thinking that it should have been me, not my son, and I don't find a rational answer for the choice of the Grim Reaper. Bad things happen although we might not see the reason, which always seems unjust. But there are still people who love you and need you here. Think of your children, how it may feel like to lose your dad so young...or to grow up without him. They need you, Shameka, and although I understand how you feel, your place is here with us.

Shameka: but...but...how can I go on without him? I just can't think of a life without my Sebastian!

Juliet: you'll find a way, in the end. We'll find a way together. All together, me, you and the wonderful children that you and Sebastian were blessed with. Be strong my dear Shameka, you'll see that everything will turn out for the better, in the end...

The death of Sebastian had been a shock for everyone, and everyone was trying to recover and cope with the fact as they could. It seemed, though, that everyone preferred to stay on their own, to avoid talking about the pain they were feeling and facing reality for what it was.

Despite what she had told Shameka, Juliet couldn't stop thinking that it should have been her and that life wasn't fair. As mother-in-law, grandmother and founder of the legacy, she had duties and responsibilities to fulfill. But every time she could, she would escape to the world of her paintings. It was the only way not to think of the pain she felt in her heart which, probably, would never heal.

Theodore's heart was shattered into pieces as well. Only his Riley could make him feel slightly better. She was the only one he could talk with, probably because he couldn't see her cry.

He just couldn't look the other family members in the eyes, he couldn't face the pain that everyone was feeling. Specially his sister June. He loved his older sister and he hated to see her cry.

For this reason Theodore started to spend all of his free time locked in the garage, trying to find the potion that would make Riley real. It made him feel useful and concentrating on the work kept the pain away for a while.

June was also hiding. Although she preferred to be in the open air. The cold wind of winter and the icy snowflakes that kept falling seemed to heal her wounded heart a bit. Only a little bit though, but still better than being stuck inside feeling the dark aura of sadness and woe looming around the house.

Exactly as her little brother, June couldn't bear to face anyone in the house. Not yet. It was so frustrating to see and feel pain and not be able to do anything about it. She felt useless.

Luckily, her cousin started to visit her quite a lot.

June was really grateful to Yusun. Playing with her in the snow even made her laugh again, sometimes. And her cousin helped her a lot, just by being there and asking no questions.

Shameka, on the other hand, couldn't hide. Her little girls needed her now more than ever, and she found out that concentrating all of her energies on teaching the twins their remaining skills made her so tired that in the evenings she just collapsed on her bed without any energy left for sad thoughts.

Otherwise, she would just sit on the rocking chair staring at the void....

Luckily granny Juliet was helping! Although she was really getting old...and forgetful! Poor Charlotte, walking in the snow with her sleeping wear...luckily she didn't get any flu!

If Shameka was too tired to notice, Juliet was rather concerned for her and her oldest kids.

Theodore was always working on his lab and June was always hiding in the playground....it was ok to try to soothe the pain in whatever way was more successful, at a first stage, but they would have to face the reality of things, at some point. Besides, she was scared that the family would grow more and more apart and distant, if things kept going on this way.

Then one day she got an idea. She was reading a newly bought cookbook and entertaining little Charlotte with colourful pictures of freshly baked muffins and the like, when she spotted a secret recipe she had never considered before. Both because she didn't have 10 cooking skill point and because she was mainly interested in cakes to bake for the kids.

The secret recipe was to make a dish called Ambrosia which was supposed to bring dead people back to life, if they ate it.

Juliet went right upstairs to share the exciting news with her daughter-in-law....only to find her collapsed on her bed and totally asleep. Poor darling she looks so tired!

So, Juliet decided to leave on her mission alone. And went straight to the graveyard....

One of the ingredients of Ambrosia was Life Fruit, and rumors had it that its seeds could be found in the catacombs that lay under the graveyard. So brave Juliet went straight to explore the place, and was successful! She brought home an unknown seed...which had a fair share of possibility to be the seed of a Life Plant.

Only problem was, she couldn't plant it because her gardening skill points weren't enough.

So, after sharing the news with an hopeful Shameka, mother- and daughter-in-law decided to work hard to improve their cooking and gardening skills to try to make Ambrosia and try to bring Sebastian back.

They decided not to tell the kids, though, in order not to deceive them, if the experiment didn't work...

What they didn't know, was that June and Theo were working on it as well....although on a totally different line

One evening Theo got really upset to find his sister working on his lab. What on earth was she doing there? He thought they had made an unspoken agreement to avoid each other not to talk about their dad...besides, she must have known this was his hiding place!

But it was too late to escape, maybe it was time to confront their feelings after all...

Theodore: what are you doing here, sister?

June: researching a potion..

Theodore: what for? You know it's my thing, researching potions...I'm trying to make Riley real...and I need my lab now!

June: I...I just thought...that I could find a potion that could bring daddy back to us!

It was too much...Juniper started crying and Theodore couldn't do but follow....and brother and sister finally shared their pain...

...and unexpectedly found out that they were feeling better...the thought of confronting their feelings and woes had been scarier than the fact itself...having someone who totally understood how you felt was actually rather soothing!

Theodore: listen, June, I've been working on it as well...

June: I thought you were researching on how to make your IF real...

Theodore: yes, but I also worked on finding a potion to bring daddy back...but it doesn't exist, I'm sorry...

June: but it can't be...there must be a way!

Theodore: in fact, I believe there is, but it's not a potion...

June: and what is it, then?

Theodore: have you ever heard of alchemy? elixirs?

June: uh?

Theodore: elixirs..are some kind of potions..but they're not chemically made as the one we can make with this lab. They're made with herbs and stuff on an alchemy table...

June: how do you know this elixir thing will bring daddy back?

Theodore: I just....know it!

June: but how can you be sure?

Theodore: er...I...er....read about them on a book...at the library....anyway, listen, I read there's an alchemy shop even here. It should be close to the river at the far end of the town...I want to go check the alchemy shop tomorrow. And see if I can either buy the elixir or learn how to make it. But don't tell mum or gran, ok?

But Shameka was somewhere else that evening...

Shameka! What are you doing standing there in front of the hospital????

Shameka: I just went to a gardening class at the science center...I need to improve my gardening and cooking skills! I can't leave it all to Juliet, you know?

Good girl, Sham :)

Once she got back home, Shameka positioned her newly bought pots in the garage, noticing that Theodore wasn't at work at his lab as usual. But she didn't have time to give it another thought...because she soon found out that, even indoor, plants weren't growing in winter!

So frustrating!!! All this work...for nothing! It didn't matter how much she and Juliet worked on improving their gardening and cooking skills, they couldn't prepare Ambrosia because it was impossible to grow anything in winter....

She decided to bathe Sophie, then. And she noticed how old her dog had become....would she soon leave them all as well? And then there was Juliet...she had proved to be a very strong woman and was a huge comfort to Shameka...but she was getting old....the mere thought gave her shudders. And she clung to Sophie and began to cry...

In the meanwhile, at the very end of town, someone else was being totally frustrated... Theo had managed to sneak out and reach the alchemy shop...only to find out he was too young to be considered! The shop guy wouldn't even talk of elixirs with him, not to mention sell them...and he wasn't even allowed to use the alchemy station!

So he sat, totally enraged and frustrated, (and in his pj, for some reason :D) on the rocking chair by the fire, listening to his uncle Davin playing the drums in the alchemy shop...

The plan wasn't working! He thought everything was gonna get fixed, when he had found out about elixirs. Something inside him, a sixth sense perhaps, had found the book in the library and a whole world had opened to his eyes...and for some reason, it looked like a world he has always belonged to... so he had thought he could make it, but no, he was still too young...some stupid age barrier was standing in the way to bring his dad back!

Back home, June was waiting for her brother to come back. And feeding Magnus in the meanwhile. Up to now, she didn't even need to cover up for him, as her mum hadn't asked questions.
She had seen her coming out of the toilet red eyed, and she thought she must have had a crying moment for her dad. Then without a word she had gone in the garden to use the telescope that had once belonged to Sebastian...

Although it was her first try, Shameka was successful and found a new star! Which she named after her lost love...Sebastian :)

Later that night Theodore found his sister iceskating on the frozen pond. She had become quite good and could even skate backwards!

Theodore: hey, I'm back...

June: and you have no good news I can tell...

Theodore: I'm not allowed to even go near the elixir station because I'm still a child.

June: oh...

Theodore: I can't believe it! We were just so close...it's so frustrating....

June: don't worry, Theo it's not your fault...we tried...and I overheard something that mum told gran...and it seems they're trying to find a way to bring daddy back but they're not any luckier....it seems that we have to accept the fact that he's gone forever....btw, you know that mum discovered a new star and named it after dad? Come here Theo, iceskating can do miracles...

And so brother and sister ice skated together for the first time. Although the frustration was overwhelming, their hearts had joined again and were slowly healing...while accepting realty for what it was, cruel as it may be, but no more alone.

Sophie was not feeling well that evening. She was feeling more and more tired as the days passed and she knew she would soon be leaving for good...but she would see her mother and father again and she wasn't scared.

The only thing that was worrying her was her sim family....everybody was so sad for the loss of Sebastian, and Sophie herself missed him dearly...but she didn't want to leave the family in such a state.

She had seen Shameka cry on her that evening, and she couldn't do anything but let her cry and lick her face. And she had seen how sad the kids were...and Juliet. Juliet was her father's best sim-friend and she was totally devoted to her...besides, Juliet was getting old as well and might not have that much time left.
Sophie couldn't think of the family enduring other losses...Shameka seemed to weakened to be able to cope with that.

She took a decision, and climbed off the sofa, ready to set off for her destination...

Magnus: are you ssssure you want to do that sssh?

Sophie: I must, Magnus. I can't bear to see them all in this state...

Magnus: but there'sss no way back you know that...

Sophie: I know. But it's the only gift I can give them, or at least I'll try...

Magnus: ssssh... good luck then...

As her parents weren't around that night, Sophie went straight to the cemetery. She needed to meet some ghost dog and have a talk. She finally met one and found out that even as ghost you can get fleas!

She got home by early morning and had a little talk with her cat friend as well...

Sophie: listen, Rembrandt, there's something I need to tell you...

Rembrandt: I already know Sophie, Magnus told me. And I think you're doing the most noble thing a dog ever did for its family...I'm gonna miss you though, you've been like a mother to me and you're my best friend, although dog and cats are not supposed to get along...

Upstairs in the nursery Shameka was raging at the phone with her brother-in-law Kent who had asked her out on a date!
Seriously? hello, game bug here!

Apart from that, the twins were happily playing and they at least were having fun...

Charlotte: ...Sophie!

Sophie turned to the one who had called her name...a lovely bundle of joy named Charlotte...

how she would have loved to see them grow up! how painful it was to know she would miss it all...but then again, she would give them the greatest gift she could, before leaving.

She would try to give them back their father.

To be continued......

  1. Oh, its so fun! :)
Just a little thought... I think that the latest patch had a fix for the planter box not working inside during winter - apparently plants grown in them will no longer turn dormant. Just by the way. ;)
Can't wait for moreeee <3 BethyGrace

    1. hellooooooooo :):):) I'm happy you're enjoying my legacy :D so it was the patch! The next time I played, I accidentally passed through the garage and saw that the planter boxes had sprouts! And I even needed to do a bit of weeding...and I was wondering if that was a glitch, as it was still full winter....but that's great news!!!
I'll be able to grow the life plant! Although it will take ages to improve gardening skills :( but anyways, there's more coming sooon!!!!! :D
